The electromagnetic field distributions and solutions for an infinitely long superconducting cylinder rotating about its axis and placed parallel to an infinitely long normal conducting wire carrying an alternating current are obtained. The propagation behavior of the fields within the cylinder are investigated in terms of the propagation constant as a function of the London penetration depth. The power loss and the torque on the cylindrical surface are calculated. Satisfactory agreement with previous results is achieved.
