Fourteen new structural phase transitions are detected in layer‐type monoalkylammonium hexachloro‐stannates (C n H 2n+1 NH 3 ) 2 SnCl 6 ( n = 2 to 8) by means of differential scanning calorimetry. The basic thermodynamic data are determined for the transitions. The infrared spectra of the compounds are measured in the range of molecular vibrations (500 to 4000 cm −1 ) at room temperature and in dependence on temperature (77 to 298 K) by the method of nujol mull.
