An illustrative analysis of the quasibound state using a complex reflection coefficient is presented. The global transfer matrix technique is formulated and used to evaluate the reflection coefficient. The quasibound state interacting with a half‐space continuum is the well‐known problem of a quantum well in an electric field and here it is called a quantum well mirror. The dependences of rectangular quantum well mirror and double barrier reflection coefficient on energy are compared. The wave functions are shown as well. A new way of finding the quasibound state energy and determining the quasibound state thickness based on the global transfer matrix behaviour is proposed.
