The scattering matrix method combined with the layer‐doubling method is applied to n ‐beam dynamical calculations at 100 and 300 kV for aluminum, copper, and gold and the validity of the method has been critically examined in comparison with multi‐slice and Bethe's eigenvalue methods. The method is shown to be an efficient dynamical method for high resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM).
