The initial susceptibility of the Blume‐Emery‐Griffiths model is investigated by the use of the new correlated‐effective‐field theory. The general expression for evaluating the paramagnetic susceptibility is obtained. In particular, the present formulation is illustrated in a honeycomb lattice by examining the susceptibility (or the inverse susceptibility) numerically. We find many characteristic phenomena in the system with z = 3, where z is the coordination number.
