By means of the deformation potential theory, an expression for the electron‐phonon coupling constant g is derived, thereby a formula for the calculation of the Peierls phase transition temperature is obtained. As an illustration, this formula with the data calculated by a semiempirical crystal orbital method is used to compute the Peierls phase transition temperature of TTF‐TCNQ.
