A new method for the description of the properties of lattice defects in a quasi‐continuum with long‐range elastic interactions is presented. The method is based on the application of the Fourier transformation for the solution of the equation of classical elasticity and takes into account the fact that the wavelength of the elastic waves in a real material cannot be arbitrarily small. The method is applied for the description of the properties of a dilatation centre and a screw dislocation.
