The mechanisms of interaction of nonequilibrium phonons with electron donor states localized on Co 2+ impurities in monocrystals of CdTe are investigated by the heat pulse technique. There is no impurity scattering for phonons of longitudinal mode propagating along one of the fourth‐order axes q ∥ [100], where I‐phonons are nonpiezoactive. Therefore, the piezoelectric mechanism of electron phonon interaction predominates over all other scattering mechanisms.
