A comparative study of relativistic and non‐relativistic tunnelling of electrons through double‐barrier systems is reported considering potentials of rectangular barrier and δ‐function barrier types. Among other things, it is found that, for δ‐function barriers, the relativistic treatment predicts resonant tunnelling at all energies for certain quantised values of the strength of the δ‐function barriers, while the corresponding non‐relativistic treatment is not involved with a situation of this sort.
