The light‐induced absorption (amplification) of an intensive high‐frequency sound wave due to interband transitions of the electrons in a quantizing magnetic field is studied. With the use of the density matrix method the energy dissipation of the sound wave per unit time is calculated and the non‐linear constant γ ( I ) of the sound absorption is defined. The pecularities of γ ( I ) which appear with the change of the sound‐wave intensity ( I ) are discussed.
