The exact formulation of the spin‐5/2 Blume‐Capel (BC) model is given on the basis of both the exact Ising spin identities and the differential operator technique. The general expressions for evaluating the phase diagram and paramagnetic susceptibility of the spin‐5/2 BC model are obtained within the statistical accuracy equivalent to the Zernike approximation of the spin‐1/2 Ising model. Some numerical results for the phase diagram and paramagnetic susceptibility of the spin‐5/2 BC model on the honeycomb lattice are given.
