Parametrization of S‐ and P‐Magnetoexcitons in Quantum Wells

An analytical formula is proposed that describes magneto‐optical data of heavy hole S‐ and P‐magnetoexcitons in quantum welis quite well. The open coefficients in this formula have been fitted to numerically derived magnetoexciton energies. Experimental results for S‐ and P‐magnetoexcitons are presented obtained from one‐ and two‐photon excitation spectroscopy. It is possible to extract parameters for conduction band and valence band separately, while band mixing is taken into account by nonparabolicity parameters. The investigation shows that the dominant features of the spectra can be quantitatively described in the frame of a two‐band model.
