A simple two‐site model with spin is considered for which the exact solution is admissible. The phenomenon of valence transition is investigated. Finite temperature specific heat and magnetic intersite spin correlations are also studied. It is shown that strong f‐d Coulomb interaction makes the first‐order transition possible. It is also shown that the magnetic intersite spin correlations are sensitive to f‐d Coulomb interaction and hopping interaction. The results are compared with previous works.
