59.54 keV γ‐ray Compton profiles (CP) of polycrystalline samples of ZnS and ZnSe are reported for the first time. Both the profiles scaled to lattice momentum are found to be similar except for the low momentum region where ZnS profile is more peaked. The difference in the two profiles at the low momentum region could be a core‐orthogonalisation effect which needs to be evaluated.
