Low‐frequency chaotic and complex regular oscillations of photocurrent and temperature in CdS single crystals occurring at constant applied voltage and illumination are investigated. Routes from periodicity to chaos are studied. Explanation of the complex behaviour is presented on base of a rate‐equation model of temperature‐electric instability in semiconductors with two types of electron trap levels. Numerical results of computer calculations of the model are in agreement with the experimental results.
