Photoluminescence, cathodoluminescence, and excitation spectra of CaS: Eu phosphors with different activator concentrations (0.1 to 2 at%) are measured at 4.2, 80, and 300 K. Excitation and luminescence bands originating from the associate centres Eu   Ca 2+ ‐V Ca are observed in addition to those of a single Eu   Ca 2+centre. Calculations by the method of linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) allow to obtain a scheme of the electron terms of the associates which is in good agreement with the experiment.
