Regions of allowed values of short‐range order parameters are calculated for ordered A 2 t –1 B alloys and non‐stoichiometric interstitial Me 2 t X 2 t –1 ( t = 1, 2, 3, and 4) compounds. A relationship is established between the short‐and long‐range order parameters as a function of solid‐solution composition and superstructure type. Suggestions are made about possible formation mechanisms of various superstructures.
