Experiments are discussed wherein scattering of excitonic polaritons with acoustic phonons between different polariton modes can be observed. Information about this dissipation process is given by the luminescence of deep impurities acting as microscopic detectors within the crystal which are sensitive to the distribution of energy to the different polariton branches. The calculated intensity for an ensemble of ideal micro‐detectors containing constant quantum yield and absorption probability agrees excellently with measurements.
