New results are presented which show evidence for Bose‐Einstein condensation of paraexcitons in Cu 2 O following creation of a high density of free carriers. Evidence relies on time and space‐resolved analysis of exciton luminescence. Extracted densities of paraexcitons exceed the critical value for Bose‐Einstein condensation by one order of magnitude. Luminescence spectra show anomalies which are discussed in the framework of the non‐ideal Bose gas. Anomalous transport properties are observed at high densities suggesting a superfluid flow of excitons.
