With the incorporation of wide gap cubic zineblende MnTe, a range of optical studies are carried out on single quantum wells of ZnTe/MnTe and CdTe/MnTe. By using thin MnTe barrier layers the highly strained structures appear to be nearly pseudomorphic and show evidence for good electron hole confinement. This has provided a means to examine the exciton‐LO‐phonon coupling through different indicators.
