Semi‐infinite type II semiconductor multilayers are investigated consisting of alternating layers of two‐dimensional electron and hole carriers. By applying electromagnetic boundary conditions, a dispersion relation is derived for surface plasma modes. This is shown to be equivalent to that obtained recently starting from electrostatic image charges. Some numerical results are also discussed.
