The aggregation of Bi 3+ —vacancy dipoles in NaCl single crystals grown in a reactive atmosphere is studied by monitoring the changes in the intensity of the C‐band attributed to Bi 3+ ions. An apparent third‐order reaction is observed to govern the aggregation process in the early stages, with an activation energy of 0.79 eV. No ESR signals attributed to Bi 2+ centres are observed before or after X‐irradiation at 77 or 300 K.
