Based upon the work of Born and Huang, the general dispersion relation for long‐wave phononpolaritons of Borstel and Claus is retreated as a result of crystal optics. The dispersion relation is a generalized Fresnel's equation and can be used in monoclinic and triclinic crystals. And a generalized formula of the differential cross‐section of Raman scattering by phonon‐polaritons is derived by way of fluctuation dissipation theory. This formula is applicable to monoclinic and triclinic crystals as well.
