Collective electronic excitations (plasmons) in layered structures with randomly distributed thicknesses are analysed theoretically in the classical approximation. The plasmon localization length λ and the density of plasmon states (DOS) are calculated numerically. Self‐averaged results are obtained for structures consisting of 10 5 to 10 6 elementary units. The dependence of λ and DOS on the disorder strength is also discussed.
