A model is presented for magnetic flux dependent inelastic scattering processes in cyclic systems. This goes beyond previous work which assumes flux independent scattering processes. It is suggested that the model is of relevance to the interpretation of magnetoresistance oscillations which are observed in ordered normal metal rings. Electron scattering processes become more effective at flux values corresponding to degeneracies in the ring electronic states, and this manifests itself by oscillations in the magnetoresistance.
