The method of direct variational calculation of Wannier functions is applied to the ferromagnetic nickel. The calculations are performed within the framework of the unrestricted Hartree‐Fock theory. The Slater‐Koster parameters obtained are compared with other results and with the parameters used in model Hamiltonians for ferromagnetic nickel.
