Using different methods the effect of defects on the vibrational spectrum of Fibonacci chains is studied. Mistakes can strongly affect high‐frequency vibrational modes. Replacements of every A(B) segment by two A(B) segments extend the low‐frequency band‐like behaviour up to higher frequencies and enlarge the gaps and narrow the bands in the high‐frequency part of the spectrum.
