KCl crystals doubly doped with Pb 2+ and Mn 2+ ions are examined by EPR and optical (emission and absorption spectra) methods. The presence of a Pb 2+ rich phase containing Mn 2+ ions in a cubic crystal field is ascertained. According to the results obtained one should expect the existence of trace amounts of the Suzuki phase (6 KCl · PbCl 2 doped with Mn 2+ ions) distributed in a quasilinear form along dislocations or (and) grain boundaries present in the matrix.
