A simple numerical estimation of multiple scattering in the Compton effect is made for six different samples at 60 keV γ‐ray energy by taking the experimental collimation into account and restricting the scattering in a plane. Photon paths are generated through geometrical methods and the scattered intensities up to triple scattering are estimated. Present results are in good agreement with earlier Monte Carlo results. The double scattered spectral distributions for different sample thicknesses show shape dependence on sample thickness.
