Experimental results on the DC conductivity of semi insulating CdF 2 :Gd 3+ single crystals are presented. The effect of the electric field and the temperature is analysed using In σ versus E 1/2 and T −2/5 plots as suggested in the multi‐phonon‐assisted small polaron hopping model introduced by Triberis. The agreement of the experimental results with this model is very satisfactory giving a meaningful interpretation of the transport properties of this material.
