The coherent field which is generated by a planar source is calculated as a sum of contributions arising from definite trajectories. The sum is performed by means of a method recently described by Warner and Gubernatis. Generalizing to effective propagators being capable to include returns and loops, comments are made on the primary‐field extinction and the quasi‐optical behaviour of the coherent field is analysed.
