It is shown that Simon's melting law is not a mere empirical relation but is based on the theoretical concepts of Lindemann. Thus, for the first time, Simon constants are identified correctly in term of the physical properties of the concerned solid. Moreover, it is shown that the other melting laws as given by Kennedy, Reynold et al. and Dass et al. follow well from it. The calculations of the melting temperature, T m , are done in the case of argon and sodium chloride. Good agreement is found in each case.
