Impurity Binding Energies in Heterostructures

The transfer‐matrix theory for a one‐dimensional heterostructure is discussed. The applicability of effective‐mass approximation to the calculation of impurity binding energy is also presented. It is shown that both treatments lead to almost the same results which indicates the suitability of this approximation. Numerical results of the density of states are performed and their features discussed.
