It is shown that the fourth order differential equation for the determination of effective material constants of composites or alloys from those of their constituents, derived for special cases in two previous papers, is universal in the sense that it can be applied to a wide class of physical properties. It is proved that the solution of this equation avoids multiple occupancies. Especially it can be applied to alloys with off‐diagonal disorder, too.
