A theoretical analysis of non‐stationary interactions of intensive laser light and a bulk acoustic wave in dielectric crystals is made. The time dependence of the source of both, light waves and acoustic wave is considered. All fundamentals kinds of acousto‐optics interactions, viz. Stokes and anti‐Stokes processes, as well as the generation of acoustic waves by “mixing” two light beams are discussed.
