The polaron motion in Pecar's model is shown to be possible only in ionic crystals with positive dispersion Ω 2 (κ) Ω   0 2+ ν   0 2 κ 2 , at the velocity ν ≦ ν 0 . The expression for the polaron effective mass up to v 2 0 is obtained.
