The radiative transitions of excess electrons to the levels, associated with the semiconductor surface states and deep impurity states in the surface space charge region are investigated. Expressions for the corresponding cross‐sections of the spontaneous light emission are obtained. It is shown, that the luminescence spectral lines, corresponding to the surface and impurity states, can be identified by their polarization dependences.
