The pressure effect on the phonon frequency, i.e. the mode Grüneisen parameter of AIP, AlAs, and AlSb is studied from the electronic theory of solids. Then, a linear correlation by Weinstein between the TA‐mode Grüneisen parameter γ X TAat the point X and the phase transition pressure P t , is not necessarily satisfied for all of tetrahedral covalent crystals.
