Photostimulated Reorientations of PO 2 − Centers in Alkali Halides

Reorientations of molecular PO 2 − centers following an electronic transition are investigated in different alkali halides. Photoinduced reorientations which occur during the vibrational relaxation, as well as thermal reorientations are studied. The results are compared with an earlier study of the isoelectronic AsO 2 − center.
