Polarized Raman spectra of anhydrous monocrystalline lithium sulfate are studied from 90 K to room temperature. The analyzed frequency range, between 260 and 580 cm −1 , includes the lattice modes of the Li + cations and the internal bending of the sulfate anions. The observed temperature dependence of the frequency, linewidth, and intensity of the Raman peaks can be explained by a weak phase transition around 180 K.
