A parametrized tight‐binding model is used to describe the electronic structure of semimagnetic Cd 1– x Mn x Te. The density of states and the spectral density are calculated by using the coherent potential approximation. The features connected with the presence of the Mn 3d states are identified and the controversial results of angle‐resolved and integrated photoemission from Cd 1– x Mn x Te are then explained.
