A simple description is given of an hydrogen‐like system in an arbitrary magnetic field. A new expansion of the wave function is used in terms of hydrogenic states factorized by a simple exponential factor characteristic of Landau levels for free electrons. By using parabolic coordinates, such a choice for the basic function allows an analytical calculation for both the ground state and the excited states of the system under large range of field strength.
