A correlation between the equation of state and the excitation spectrum, of superfluid He 4 is established in terms of the t ‐matrix formalism by using the Lennard‐Jones interaction potential between the He atoms. The potential parameters are determined from the second virials in such a way that the errors are distributed in the entire temperature range. It is found that the excitation spectrum leads to better values in higher k ‐region, but the reproduction deteriorates in the range of low k ‐values.
