2,3‐dimethylnaphthalene crystallizes similar to naphthalene, but with dipolar structural disorder of the acentric molecules. There are differences between the inelastic incoherent scattering spectra for differently deuterated samples (C 10 H 6 (CH 3 ) 2 , C 10 D 6 (CH 3 ) 2 , C 10 D 6 (CD 3 ) 2 ) which can be explained by the dynamics of the molecular body and the methyl‐groups. The data are taken at 20, 80, and 290 K. The results of the neutron scattering experiments are confirmed by Raman measurements for the completely deuterated sample at different temperatures. Results of theoretcal calculations are in rough agreement with the experimental data.
