An analysis is made of the EPR spectrum of Nd 3+ ions entered by ion exchange (1%) in Y‐type zeolite. The hydrated samples show an isotropic EPR signal at g eff ≈ 2.73. This resonance arises from ions located in sites of C 3 symmetry. The experimental EPR signal is identified with the theoretical isotropic EPR transitions at g = 2.62. The isotropy of the EPR signal advocates the pathology of the zeolite crystals, i.e. the absence of the complete long‐range order in Y‐type zeolites.
