The optical properties of α‐phase Ag 0.7 Zn 0.3 are determined near the optical absorption edge. This alloy composition dampens the sharp Ag‐plasma resonance. The band shifts which are observed are in qualitative agreement with calculations which are performed for the similar alloy, α‐Cu 0.7 Zn 0.3 .
