Results of laser pulse transmission measurements are presented. Introducing a variable optical delay between exciting and probing pulse the relaxation behaviour of induced optical nonlinearities in the spectral region around the A n = 1 ‐exciton resonance is investigated. Optical bistability reported earlier is supported. Crystal lattice heating and nonstationarity due to long‐living extrinsic effects are observed, too, but are of minor importance.
