The Compton profile of polycrystalline niobium is measured using 59.54 keV Γ‐rays from a 241 Am source. The results are interpreted in terms of a renormalised free atom model. Best agreement between the measured and calculated values is found for the electronic configuration 4d 4,4 5s 0.6 .
