Dielectric measurements reveal Debye‐like dispersions of the main permittivities below room temperature at audio‐frequencies, the activation energy of the corresponding motions of nitrite ions being 0.5 eV. The role of the three non‐equivalent NO 2 groups in the phase transition at about 203 K is investigated using Raman‐spectroscopic results on internal NO 2 modes. A model is proposed that includes freezing of certain NO 2 groups with static disorder.
