It is argued that todays interpretation of the Weber effect is a tribute to a special form of the approximate Markovian kinetic equations used. Using the Nakajima‐Zwanzig projection formalism with the Peier form of the projector and a subsequent Markovian approximation yields other Markovian kinetic equations. The results deviate however from those by Förster and Dexter as well as by Kenkre.
